The man-made archipelago

area map

Located 4 km off the coast of Dubai, The World project is made up of over 300 artificial islands, mainly made up of sand dredged from Dubai's shallow coastal waters, and is shaped like a world map. Inspired by holiday destinations such as the Maldives, this is sure to be one of the most exclusive and sought after real estate projects in the UAE and worldwide.

The islands are divided into four categories: private homes, condominiums, dream resorts and community islands. Each island is between 250,000 and 900,000 square meters, and there is 50 to 100 meters of water between each island. The only means of transport between the islands is by sea or air.

Low-rise buildings with stylish apartments will be built on the residential islands, while some islands are intended for villas and water houses. Some islands will be hotel complexes, others will offer shopping and dining. There will also be a number of marinas spread throughout the area giving people the opportunity to sail around the islands and moor to come ashore and experience the delights of the facilities. The breakwater waters surrounding the islands are transformed into a coral reef, attracting wild marine life to the islands, which is not only visually appealing but also helps to improve sea life.

Adding to the island's uniqueness are the Seahorse Villas, whose bedrooms are submerged and overlook the transplanted corals and Gulf waters. The unique lifestyle luxury product is part of a larger hotel project called The Heart of Europe. The villas consist of three levels, one underwater, one at sea level and an upper deck. The fully submerged master bedroom and bathroom offers breathtaking views of the marine life.
